Have there been any significant regulatory developments in Argentina over the last 12 months?

In Argentina, we are in a highly inflationary context, at risk of hyperinflation and therefore a constant devaluation of the ARGENTINE PESO, which makes the government generate (in the middle of an election process), different changes in the norms and legislations. The most relevant one, which benefits employees in a dependency relationship, excludes them from the payment of income tax. On the other hand, as regards companies, there are some measures that benefit them, such as tax payment plans at rates lower than inflation and alternative exchange rates for exports, higher than the value of the official dollar.

En Argentina estamos en un contexto altamente inflacionario, en riesgo de hiperinflación y por ende de una constante devaluación del PESO ARGENTINO, lo que hace que el gobierno genere (en medio de un proceso electoral), diferentes cambios en las normas y legislaciones. El más relevante, que beneficia a los empleados en relación de dependencia, los excluye del pago del impuesto a la renta. Por otro lado, en lo que respecta a las empresas, existen algunas medidas que las benefician, como planes de pago de impuestos a tasas inferiores a la inflación y tipos de cambio alternativos para las exportaciones, superiores al valor del dólar oficial.

How would you describe the health of the accounting industry in Argentina in terms of customer demand, fee pressure, and staff recruitment and retention?

The accounting industry in Argentina is solid, and due to the constant variations in tax and labour regulations, it is essential for companies to count on the advice of accountants.

Nowadays, with the inflationary context in our country, it is very important to have good tax planning since it can save a lot of money in fiscal costs, as well as a good analysis and control of the cost structure of the management in order to maintain a balance in the prices of the products and/or services offered.

¿Cómo describiría la salud de la industria contable en Argentina en términos de demanda de los clientes, presión de tarifas y contratación y retención de personal?

La industria contable en Argentina es sólida, y debido a las constantes variaciones en las normas tributarias y laborales, es fundamental que las empresas cuenten con la asesoría de contadores.

Hoy en día, con el contexto inflacionario que vive nuestro país, es muy importante tener una buena planificación tributaria ya que puede ahorrar mucho dinero en costos fiscales, así como un buen análisis y control de la estructura de costos de la gestión para mantener un equilibrio en los precios de los productos y/o servicios ofrecidos.

During the last year, we have noticed an increased demand for tax and foreign exchange advice. This is due to the fact that there are numerous regulations and rules that directly affect the tax result.

What are your expectations for the next 12 months - are there any potentially significant developments in the pipeline?

Our expectations for the next 12 months are that the next government (whoever wins) will carry out the deep reforms that the country needs in order to stabilize it and have years of sustained growth. This would benefit the accounting industry in terms of the services we provide.

When there is an election, one renews hope and thinks that the new government will do better than its predecessors.

Has foreign investment picked up?

At this moment, foreign investment is at a standstill due to the closeness of the elections, and the lack of knowledge of who the winner may be. Let's remember that there are 3 candidates with the
possibility to be president and with very different ideologies among them.

We are a country with great potential to attract investments, which needs to have tax and labour reforms that allow investors to be certain about the direction of the country.
