Florida TaxWatch, a non-partisan, non-profit research institute and government watchdog for the state of Florida has appointed Berkowitz Pollack Brant Associate Director Karen A. Lake, CPA, as chairwoman of its COVID-19 Taxpayer Tax Force.

The task force will identify and analyze key state and local tax issues arising from COVID-19 that affect businesses, individual taxpayers and the state’s government. It will provide information to help taxpayers meet fiscal and administrative challenges during this time. 

Lake has been a member of the board of the directors for the Florida TaxWatch and served as advisory council chairman in 2018. 

Active in industry associations, she is on the board of directors of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and is chair of the organization’s state tax conference and state tax section. Lake leads the state and local tax (SALT) practice at Berkowitz Pollack Brant, which provides tax planning and strategies for individuals and companies operating in multiple states.
