#PGLooksBack with Board Member Edwin Vogel
Business OpportunitiesDecember 17, 2020
The past 12 months have shown that accounting firms have to be resilient and agile to be able to survive and thrive. Rapid digital transformation has led to an increased reliance on technology to help us connect and engage with our international peers. Many firms have found new ways to ensure that clients are still receiving the same value and quality services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In our third instalment of #PGLooksBack we sat down with Edwin Vogel, PrimeGlobal board member and Audit Partner at PrimeGlobal member firm Joanknecht. Edwin shared his thoughts on the successes and challenges that Joanknecht have faced over the past 12 months and how they have been able to continue connecting with clients and colleagues across the globe.

What do you feel have been the major successes and challenges for your firm over the past 12 months?
I am proud that from day one of the COVID-19 crisis we have been able to support our customers without interruption during these unprecedented circumstances. Even if we cannot physically meet our clients, we are of added value and still able to strengthen the bond with them.
What do you feel are the major opportunities and challenges for your firm in 2021?
Many of our clients will be hit hard by the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and need our help. However, I believe in the resilience of our economy and our clients and I expect that together we will emerge stronger from this crisis.
What is your personal takeaway from 2020?
I learned that technology provides us with an almost limitless number of possibilities to work remotely and to stay in touch with clients, colleagues and even family and friends. However, this has made me even more aware that nothing beats personal contact. I am therefore looking forward to traveling once more and meeting friends and acquaintances in person again!
What do you see as the most valuable opportunity that PrimeGlobal provided over 2020?
PrimeGlobal has shown us that international business is still possible in times when travelling is not an option. The wide variety of webinars, events and other online meetings helped us stay connected and expand our international business.
