Kicking off this technology session 'Given the Economic Outlook, Is Your Technology Platform Robust Enough?', Simon Bulleyment from Jeremy Hyman Associates, will cover all things cyber security including key trends and being prepared for an attack.

This first part of this session will cover key changes happening in the cyber security world, such as ever-evolving state threats, countries behind them, who they are targeting, and why and how they are doing it. He will cover sophisticated social engineering techniques being used by current threat actors, and why Microsoft felt compelled to write a paper in 2022 detailing one of the main groups behind an abundance of attacks.

Being in the middle of a cyber incident is never a pleasant experience and Simon will identify what organisations can do to ensure an orderly and coordinated response, should the worst happen!

Finally, he will discuss the power of cloud platforms and ‘Software as a Service’ (or SaaS) applications, including what they can offer, why (almost) all organisations should have a ‘cloud first’ approach, and the migration plan in place.

Iain Philips from Xero will then continue the technology discussion with a deeper dive into the impact of regulatory change. He will discuss how technology can help attract and retain talent and look at the current capacity challenges.

Continuing with this theme, Iain will cover ways in which Xero can support members, beyond software, and will conclude by discussing what Xero does to ensure that security is the number one priority.
