How can leaders inspire inclusion? In this recent Q&A, Cassie Crist, Partner at Sikich and executive sponsor of their Women’s Empowerment Circle, reflects on the significance of Women’s History Month in this #TeamSikich Spotlight article.
What is the Women’s Empowerment Circle?
The Women’s Empowerment Circle is committed to the recruitment, retention, development and advancement of women at Sikich. Our mission is to build an inclusive community to discuss and create awareness around issues women face in the workplace, provide tools and resources for women and help colleagues who work with women be better equipped to support and advocate for them.

Engaging content and programming are some ways we bring this to life. For example, as part of Women’s History Month, we are hosting a webinar for all Sikich employees to share a recent keynote session that was delivered at the 2023 AICPA & CIMA Women’s Global Leadership Summit.
What does inclusion mean to you, and why is it so important?
Working for an inclusive organization like Sikich means that employees feel welcomed, valued, supported and respected no matter who they are or where they come from. A culture of inclusivity helps create a sense of belonging, boosts engagement, enhances innovation and improves the overall employee experience. As a professional services firm, I truly believe we are able to put our best foot forward for our colleagues, clients and communities when we are empowered to bring our best selves to work.

As a leader, how do you inspire inclusion?
For me, inclusion starts with the practice of intentional curiosity. Taking the time to get to know others by being fully present in a conversation and actively listening to what they have to say. Asking questions with an authentic desire to learn something new or different helps build stronger relationships and instills a sense of care, support, respect and inclusion.
