Episode 2 of The Balancing Act podcast with SingerLewak examines the importance for business owners to educate themselves about cybersecurity. Cyber-attacks have become increasingly common and we constantly hearing about businesses, from large profile companies to small companies, or even organizations in the public sector, like utility companies, falling victim of them. The reality is that most cyber-attacks target small or mid-sized businesses, as these are the most vulnerable.

The pair discuss the basics of cybersecurity, the risks that business owners should be aware of and how they can avoid cyber-attacks. The following tips are also highlighted:

  • Detection and mitigation rather than focus on prevention
  • Implement multi-factor authentication
  • Develop back-up plans in the event of a breach
  • Adopt Endpoint detection and response to stop the spread of attacks.
