Looking back at MegaWeek

Back in August members came together in Chicago for our first MegaWeek event series.

This power packed week presented four of our PrimeGlobal forums, delivering in-person meetings for our Human Resources and Training, Firm Operations and Finance Administration, Marketing and Technology Leaders groups.

The inaugural MegaWeek of practice management meetings took place in August with an opening reception at the hotel’s rooftop bar for the Human Resources/Training Forum. The group embraced rainy weather and enjoyed an opportunity to meet up with old friends, most of who had not seen each other in person in 1099 days, and incite new relationships.

Monday’s sessions were high energy with Lia James, Consultant and Executive Coach, addressing the group on a number of subjects, including skills-based hiring, career pathing and best practices for a remote workforce. Lia’s positive and interactive sessions enabled the 30+ attendees to reflect on current practices, meet new PrimeGlobal peers and gather useful ideas for the future. Active discussion and sharing continued throughout the Forum, ending with a joint session facilitated by PrimeGlobal member Donna Richer, Chief Talent Officer at AAFCPAs.

The Firm Operations & Finance Administration Forum attendees joined the HR/Training group for a large Tuesday morning session, before heading to lunch, where relationship building thrived and many HR attendees waved farewell (until next year’s MegaWeek). Participants rated highly the afternoon sessions, led by sponsors Aiwyn, Xero and Prime Global member Jared Hamilton, HR Director at Calvetti Ferguson; and had a blast challenging each other to social darts at Flight Club Chicago!

After resting their dart-throwing arms, attendees arrived Wednesday morning eager to tackle roundtable topics, such as successes and challenges with bots and RPA. The forum agenda concluded with a session on Dashboard and Metrics, led by outside firm Abdo.

MegaWeek continued to inspire and bring members together at Wednesday evening’s opening reception for the IT Leaders and Marketing Leaders Forums, which represented several countries and dozens of PrimeGlobal member firms. The hotel’s popular rooftop floor provided the perfect background for attendees to take in the sights of beautiful downtown Chicago while mingling and dining with each other.

Thursday got off to a lively start where 80+ attendees from both IT and Marketing participated in a joint session on onboarding, presented by Tanya Menon, The Ohio State University Professor. Tanya’s energetic and thought-provoking talk elicited positive feedback and proved to be an excellent springboard for the ensuing breakouts.

The IT Leaders Forum started with the group’s most requested topic when Jeremy Hyman’s, of Hyman & Associates, presentation encouraged the IT Leaders group to think about Security from multiple stakeholder perspectives. The remainder of the afternoon featured sponsors Trullion and Xero covering AI, Tech Stacks, and facilitating group discussions.

At Friday morning’s One Good Idea Session, IT Leaders generated a list of four excellent concepts, one from each table of participants. Next, Will Hill, of Will Hill Consults, presented to the IT group on Data Analytics. Finally, the IT and Marketing Forums joined together for an Introduction to the Metaverse presentation, by Cortney Harding, and Mega Week closing remarks.
